BIOGRAPHY



 

This Madrid native Soprano, carried out her musical and piano studies at the Professional Conservatory of Getafe (Madrid). She graduated in piano under the guidance of Professor Almudena Cano and in coral direction at the CARLOS III University and Vox Aurea. After that, she studied singing at the Superior Singing of Madrid with Professors Teresa Tourné and Rogelio Gavilanes, as well as repertoire with Alberto Joya, Manuel Valencia, Borja Mariño,Enza Ferrari, Carlos Aragón, CelsaTamayo, Manuel Burgueras and Mónica Celegón.

Helena has attended Master Classes given by: Ana Luisa Chova, Peters Roberson, Jaume Aragall, Marco Evangelisti, Ramón Calzadilla, Harold Gramatges, AnaMaríaGonzález, Peter Harrison, etc.

She was awarded the FIRST PRIZE at several International Contests such as PEDRO LAVIRGEN 2002, “TEATRO MAESTRANZA”, “PLACIDO DOMINGO”, 2001 CIUDAD DE LOGROÑO.“BEST Soprano 2001”, Spanish radio stations COPE and CADENA 100,  and Barakaldo’s town hall for her role of Violetta in Verdi's TRAVIATA. She was also a finalist at the PLÁCIDO DOMINGO contest (Friends of the Opera from Madrid).

Thanks to her voice extension (from sol2/G2 to sol5/G5), lyric colour, dramatic expression and great colorature, she can perform numerous protagonist roles, as: MADAMA BUTTERFLY, AIDA, TOSCA, IL TROVATORE, LA TRAVIATA, RIGOLETTO, DON GIOVANNI, UN BALLO IN MASCHERA, IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA,  NORMA, CARMEN, OTELLO, TURANDOT, L`ELISIR D`AMORE, ROBERTO DEVERAUX (Elizabeth), D.PASQUALE, LA ZORRITA ASTUTA, L’INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA, BOHÈME (Mimi y Musetta), DIE ZAUBERFLÜTE.

Helena Gallardo has sung at the most important zarzuela festivals: DON GIL DE ALCALÁ, MARINA, DOÑA FRANCISQUITA, BOHEMIOS, EL BARBERILLO DE LAVAPIÉS, EL HUÉSPED DEL SEVILLANO, MARIA LA O., KATIUSKA, EL CASERÍO, EL BARBERO DE SEVILLA, LA DOGARESA, LUISA FERNANDA, EL CANTAR DEL ARRIERO. LA DEL MANOJO DE ROSAS, LOS GAVILANES, EL  DUO DE LA AFRICANA, LA DOLOROSA, AGUA, AZUCARILLOS Y AGUARDIENTES, LA VERBENA DE LA PALOMA, LA PÍCARA MOLINERA, LA CANCIÓN DEL OLVIDO, LA TABERNERA DEL PUERTO, and the GRAN ANTOLOGÍA DE LA ZARZUELA.

In the Oratory domain: REQUIEM Mozart, GLORIA Vivaldi, CHRISTMAS ORATORY Saint-Säens, EXULTATE JUBILATE Mozart, LA SALVE Padre Soler, Beethoven’s NINTH SIMPHONY, Carl Orff’s CARMINA BURANA, and a numerous lyric concerts throughout America, Holland, Germany, France, and Spain.

Helena Gallardo has sung under the conduction of such prestigious maestros as: ROUSSET, ORTEGA, SEGARICCI, GRIFFITHS, NETOPIL, BAKLAN, LEAPER, DOROZHIVSKYY, BOYCHENKO, VISANO, ROA, REMARTÍNEZ, PASCUAL OSA, TEMES, FABRA, GAGLIARDO, J. L. PÉREZ, MOYA, RUBIO, IRASTORZA, CUESTA...

She has performed on prestigious stages both in Spain and abroad: UNIVERSITY OF  SANTIAGO (CHILE), TEATRO PRINCIPAL and TEATRO JUÁREZ (México), ST. GALLEN (Switzerland), FRIEDRICHSHAFEN (Germany), BREGENZ (Austria), etc.
